The default report in AWS Cost Explorer shows costs and consumption for your top five AWS services and provides a detailed breakdown in a table view.

To acquire a better insight into your expense trends, you can alter the time in the reports to see historical data going back up to twelve months.

How to Enable AWS Cost Explorer

Step 1 – Once you sign up with your AWS Management Console. Search for ‘AWS Cost Explorer’.

Step 2 – Then on the left-hand side under “AWS cost Management’. Choose ‘Cost Explorer’.

Step 3 – Once you enable the feature, it will take up to 24 hours to populate your data and usage time.

Step 4 – After 24 hours, your AWS dashboard screen will show your past spending based on the number of past months you will choose.
