Installation of CPanel

What exactly CPanel is ?

Lot of people think that CPanel is a brand name or something like that but the generic name of this kind of software is Web Hosting Control Panel. Its a shared hosting & most importantly you can handle the server without any complexity in configuration and also its easy to handle for server admin, in short if i say CPanel is a web based software through which you can easily handle your domain account graphically instead of the tradition command line . After installation of CPanel you will have to access it on your browser with its ip and default port which is 2083. After accessing it on your browser you will get all the things graphically like you can check the disk space and bandwidth you have used, configure email accounts, manage domain names, accounts scanning option, install scripts, install modules from easy apache, upload files to your web server and administrator of your databases, among other things.

Now the question is, how to install CPanel ?

Ok, Lets install CPanel.

Note :-

1) Once CPanel is installed in your server, you can not remove it untill you reinstall your os. CPanel doesn’t provide any uninstaller.

2) To get graphical interface of CPanel, you will have to pay something as its licensing cost.

Prerequisites:-

Before you begin your CPanel installation, please make sure that you have met with the following conditions, otherwise the installation will get failed:

1) Random Access Memory (RAM) should be installed minimum 1 GB or more in your system.

2) The hostname on your system or server should be FQHN (Fully Qualified Host Name) for example: web.localhost.localdomain.

{You can modify your host name from /etc/sysconfig/network }

3) Perl needs to be installed before installation, you can install this by following command:-

Now lets install CPanel

To start installation first we need to install wget by typing:-

To install CPanel with WHM, get the script named latest from its official site by typing :-

Now lets run the script to install the CPanel by typing:-

Now this script will take several hours to complete.

After completion the script just open the web browser of your system and hit your server’s ip with the 2087 port because 2087 post is used for WHM. For example:- https://192.168.0.1:2087

After hitting the URL, you will be asked for username password, use your system or server’s credentials to login WHM.

A setup will be on your screen which will have 6 steps. Lets configure it:

Step:1 Licensing

If you agree then click on i agree and jump on the next step.

Step:2 Basic Information

Fill your mail id, FQHN and all the information, which all are needed to fill.

Step:3 Network Interfaces

Dont make any changes on this step, simply click Skip This Step and Use Default Settings at the top

Step:4 Nameserver Information

In this step if you want to run your own name server click on BIND option as it is mostly used.

Next fill your own FQHN (Fully Qualified Host Name)

If you are not going to run your own nameserver, simply click on DISABLED option

now save & go to step number 5

Step:5 FTP & Mail Configuration

We just need to setup FTP service so use default option Pure-FTPD.
Use the default option for mail as well.

now save & go to step number 6

Step:6 Quotas

use default option for quota as well.

Now click on Finish Setup Wizard to finish the installation.

Now your CPanel is ready to use, just go make your user’s account on the server and start enjoying your working.
